Activision has officially revealed what this year's Call of Duty title will be and, as the rumors suggest, it looks like we're getting another installment in the Modern Warfare series. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III was officially revealed via a teaser trailer that also confirmed a November release date for the game.
The teaser features snippets of dialogue from some of the series' main characters, like Captain Price and Shadow Company leader Phillip Graves. Dialogue from the latter seemingly suggests that Graves has survived the events of Modern Warfare II.
"Never bury your enemies alive," he states.
"The ultimate threat awaits," reads some text that accompanies the trailer. As this is just a teaser, not much in terms of details has been provided. It does, however, confirm that Modern Warfare III will release on November 10, 2023. That's not terribly surprising as November is typically when new Call of Duty games launch.
With just a few months until the game's launch, we can expect a more formal reveal event to take place in the coming weeks. Activision previously announced that a new limited-time event for Modern Warfare III will take place in Call of Duty: Warzone, the battle royale spin-off.
"Drop into Call of Duty: Warzone to experience the worldwide reveal for Call of Duty 2023 in a limited-time event," reads a note on the blog. "Join the ranks of Shadow Company to take on Konni forces and secure the chemical weapon threat before it’s too late."
It's reported the event will take place on August 17. It's possible that a more comprehensive reveal of the game will take place alongside the event, perhaps showcasing some actual gameplay. Activision typically hosts dedicated streams for both the campaign and multiplayer portions of new Call of Duty games, so we can expect something similar with this.
No platforms for this year's game have been announced but PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC are pretty much a given. And despite the age of the PS4 and Xbox One at this point, it's likely these will also be supported as there are still a ton of players on each of them.
