Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War launches in less than a month's time — on November 13th (alongside the release of the PlayStation 5, and the Xbox Series X will have already been out for three days at that point).
We know for a fact that Call of Duty: Warzone will live on beyond Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. It's said that the free-to-play battle royale will exist as a constant alongside future instalments in the first-person shooter series. Therefore, we should expect the launch of Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War to completely change up Warzone. And where else to begin but with a new map.
The open beta for Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is now live on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC — more on that here. The beta includes a new mode called Fireteam: Dirty Bomb which Treyarch and Activision released a full-blown trailer for just the other day — check that out here.
Many have speculated that this trailer contains our first look at Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War's Warzone battle royale map. There's a moment in the trailer where we're shown players leaping from a plane and parachuting down to what appears to be an enormous map. Fireteam: Dirty Bomb makes use of large maps, vehicles, parachutes, last stand, perks, and more.
The mode sounds awfully similar to what Call of Duty: Warzone has got going on. What's more, dataminers have uncovered files within the Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War beta pertaining to Fireteam: Dirty Bomb which are labelled "wz_startscreen" (via /r/BlackOpsColdWar) Such a discovery speaks for itself.
