Shortly after the discovery of an unlisted YouTube video that officially confirmed Call of Duty Black Ops: Cold War as the next Call of Duty game, developer Treyarch has dropped the first piece of promotional art for the game.
It's quite a departure from the initial teaser video which was dark and eerie in tone. Although, it's still very much grounded in the roots of the Cold War. The image is rife with references as it features propaganda presented by both the Russian (on the left) and American (on the right) sides.
The poster arrived shortly after the reveal made its rounds, confirming the Cold War setting inpsired by the geopolitical conflict between the United States and the Soviet Unionin. Again, this image is detailed enough to add further context to what was a very tumultuous situation but is still vague enough to not spoil any details of the actual game.
For that, we go back to the trailer which made reference to a soviet spy codenamed "perseus" who infiltrated western intelligence and whose real identity and whereabouts are still a mystery to this day. The trailer featured clips from an interview with Soviet defector Yuri Bezmenov discussing the Soviet strategy of subverting Western domination through "active meastures" like demoralization, destabilization, crisis, and normalization.
The full reveal for Call of Duty Black Ops: Cold War is scheduled for August 26.
