Call of Duty's mid-season update is going full-blown '80s action. Today marked the arrival of new content inspired by two of the decade's most iconic films: Die Hard and Rambo.
The '80s Action Heroes content will feature John McClane of the Die Hard films and John Rambo of the Rambo movies along with associated cosmetics for every Call of Duty game.
In Call of Duty: Warzone, there are new iconic locales inspired by the films. Replacing the Broadcast Tower in Verdansk's Downtown is the headquarters of Nakatomi Corporation. This also comes with multiple optional missions that can be completed during Battle Royale and Plunder for special rewards.
Scattered across Verdansk are Survival Camps that pay homage to Rambo: First Blood Part II. There are ten camps throughout the map with "solid" loadout items and dog tags of comrades that, if you collect enough of, will grant you an even greater reward.
The aircraft hangars have also been converted into a makeshift CIA Outpost. There's talk of agents needing to track down Rambo as well as locating identification for fallen soldiers.
Additional Warzone content includes the "Power Grab" Limited-Time mode. Power Grab features a smaller starting circle that collapses over the course of five stages. There's no Gulag in this mode; the only ay to revive fallen squadmates is the Buy Station or by earning the right to revive by collecting Dog Tags that are picked up from Operators you've eliminated or earned from completing Contracts. Each Dog Tag collecting will count towards a reward ladder that offers things like UAV, a Respawn Token, Advanced Gas Mask and more. The Combat Bow is also a new Killstreak reward.
In addition to all the Warzone content, Black Ops Cold War has received two new maps. Standoff is a 6v6 medium-sized map, while Duga is available for Multi-Team modes. There's also the new mode with a "cranked-up twist,"Â Die Hardpoint.
Work alongside your squad to capture Hardpoints and eliminate enemies in a race to gain 200 points, or the most points before time expires. Capturing a Hardpoint will give you a movement speed boost (the first of five potential buffs) and set your timer to 30 seconds. But beware: these buffs come at the cost of your life in explosive fashion when the clock hits zero.
This timer can be extended by earning eliminations and playing the objective, so aggressive play will be key to survival. While on your team's Hardpoint, your timer will be paused, and kills will add 15 seconds to your timer up to a max of 30 seconds. Successive kills will also grant you up to four additional buffs on top of movement speed: weapon handling, ADS speed, slide speed, and a larger explosion for when you inevitably die (only achievable after a five-kill streak.)
In Week Two, we'll get Rambo's Gun Game, another explosive variation of the frantic free-for-all mode. In this special mode, the rotation of 20 weapons will feature weapons with explosives firepower, such as the Combat Bow, War Machine, RPG-7, and even Death Machine.
In Call of Duty: Mobile, Guns Blazing will be introduced as a limited-time Multiplayer game mode. This two week event will run from May 20 to June 2.
Players will be able to transform into Rambo and John McClane in this new Multiplayer mode, allowing them to see what it’s like to become these iconic action heroes. Rack up eliminations to become Rambo or McClane with dual-wielded Choppers and increased health!
In addition to all these fun twists and special game modes, there will also be cosmetics and bundles available for purchase. For Black Ops Cold War and Warzone, there's both the Rambo Operator Bundle and John McClane Operator Bundle. In both bundles, you can get the respective Legendary Operator plus Finishing Moves, special Legendary Weapon Blueprints and more.
