Earlier this month, Destiny 2 kicked off "Into the Light," a two-month narrative-based journey that will lead us into the highly anticipated endgame — The Final Shape.
Although we've still got more than a month until the next major chapter in Destiny 2 unfolds, Bungie has shared a new trailer that gives us a look into The Pale Heart of the Traveler.
"The Final Shape looms—a nightmarish calcification of reality into the Witness's twisted design. Embark on a perilous journey into the heart of the Traveler, rally the Vanguard, and end the War of Light and Darkness," Bungie teases.
As previously revealed, Destiny 2: The Final Shape will follow the pursuit of the Witness through the heart of the Traveler. "There is a place where we will find eternity being torn asunder," Bungie details. "An unraveling landscape that echoes with the deeds of our past. Persevere in this impossible place and uncover what lies at the heart of this war."
Narrated by Cayde-6, the trailer officially takes us inside this "paradise" that has "been twisted into corruption." This new locale is reflective of players' journies thus far — a twisted blend of various environments and points of interest throughout Destiny 2.
Bungie has been slowly pulling back the curtain on Destiny 2: The Final Shape, recently revealing the new Prismatic subclass. Blending Light and Darkness, players will be able to combine Arc, Solar, Void, Stasis, and Strand abilities into a custom subclass. Additionally, players will also receive armor capable of gifting two Exotic powers.
Players will need all the help they can get as they face off against a brand new adversary: the Dread. Fighting alongside the Witness, these new enemies align themselves with this terrifying final vision of the universe.
"New threats reveal themselves at the Witness’s side. Dual-wielding Husks hone their blades below fearsome Grim hovering in wait. In the distance, psionic Weavers and Attendants strategize and prepare for your fireteam’s arrival," Bungie details.
Destiny 2: The Final Shape will also feature a new raid and two dungeons that will be released during the year of The Final Shape.
As previously detailed, Bungie will be changing up how they deliver content in Destiny 2. "Episodes" will replace "Seasons" as the main way to deliver storytelling and content updates. Each Episode will contain new story content and rewards, including a new Exotic mission, Exotic weapon, and armor. Episodes will be split into three Acts, with a new Act arriving every six weeks. These Acts will feature new stories, quests, activities, weapons, artifact mods, pass ranks, and rewards.
Destiny 2: The Final Shape is set for release on June 4, 2024.
