Spotted by a user of the Fallout 76 subreddit, Bethesda have contributed quite the hefty amount towards the GoFundMe page for the twelve-year-old cancer patient whom they allowed play their upcoming game early.
Though Wes himself unfortunately passed away earlier this month, Bethesda did kindly let him play Fallout 76 early - but that's not all. In a truly heartwarming and respectable deed, the game studio donated $10,000 to Wes' family - stating along with it “You have been an inspiration to the Fallout community and everyone at Bethesda. We will miss you, Wes. #WesStrong forever!”
The family recalled the day in which Wes was allowed to play Fallout 76 in a Facebook post:
Bethesda’s very own Matt Grandstaff drove 4 hours from Maryland to our home to hand deliver this surprise. He spent the day at our house watching Wes play, making him the first person in the world outside of the video game industry employees to play. He also received the first prototype of the power armor helmet that will be included in the new release, only his was signed by Todd Howard of Bethesda himself.
This is truly an awesome, heartwarming act from the studio. Rest in peace, Wes.
Fallout 76 releases on November 14th for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
