The rumors regarding
Far Cry: New Dawn were partially true. The newest installment of the
Far Cry franchise was actually announced during The Game Awards; but, it won't be releasing tomorrow.
Far Cry: New Dawn is a standalone sequel to
Far Cry 5, set in a "breathtaking post-apocalyptic world. More specifically, survivors will explore a radically transformed Hope County, Montana where they'll face a new threat - the merciless Highwaymen and their leaders The Twins, Mickey and Lou.
A trailer for
Far Cry: New Dawn was shown during the award show, introducing us to the lawless frontier.
Adding some gameplay details, you'll have to fight back against the twins and the Highwaymen by building up the Homebase, called Prosperity. A stronghold of the Survivors, you can craft makeshift weapons and vehicles and train their Guns for Hire. As you progress, they can upgrade the Homebase for more powerful weapons and gear.
Additionally, the Homebase serves as the place to launch Expeditions. For the first time in
Far Cry, you'll be allowed to explore beyond the local area. Expeditions will drop you into random unique locations across the United States where you must grab a package of valuable materials and get out quickly.
Far Cry: New Dawn will release on February 15, 2019, for PS4, Xbox One and PC. It'll be priced at $39.99.
