Ubisoft has announced that
Far Cry 5's first bit of post-launch DLC,
Hours of Darkness, will be coming to PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4 on June 5th. Players will say goodbye to the lush mountains of Hope County and hello to the dark jungles of Vietnam as the story DLC puts you in the shoes of Hope County's Wendell "Red" Redler, on a mission to rescue his imprisoned squadmates and survive long enough to reach the extraction point.
Hours of Darkness is Included in the Season Pass and Gold Editions of
Far Cry 5, but also can also be purchased as a standalone DLC for $11.99. The expansion will introduce new weapons, like the Vietnam-era M16, SVD sniper rifle, and M60 machine gun, all of which can be taken back to
Far Cry 5's main campaign as well. Along with your new arsenal, you'll get the ability to call in bombing airstrikes, as well as the new Survival Instinct feature, which grants up to four temporary perks for players racking up stealth kills.
That's not all, and after finishing
Hours of Darkness, you'll unlock two additional modes,
Survivor Mode, which strips down your weaponry and ramps up the challenge to provide a more authentic experience, and
Action Movie Mode, which gives you additional weapon slots and enhances the airstrike ability. Additionally, all players, even those who don't own the DLC, will have free access to Vietnam-themed assets in
Far Cry Arcade starting today. Take a look:
Wendell Redler is more than just a Hope County resident, he’s a veteran soldier of the Vietnam War. Listen to him recount his glory days, as you travel back in time to war-torn Vietnam to take down Viet-Cong. Trapped behind enemy lines, rescue your squad mates and evacuate to safety in the first war-based Far Cry. You must maneuver throughout this remote valley in Vietnam, and use survival instinct and stealth to save your team and get home.
