Fortnite’s latest season is here (running November 1–29) and it kicks off a hilariously insane crossover event with The Simpsons, beginning with a Zero Point shard landing in the hands of Homer Simpson of all people.
While Fortnite has previously collaborated with several Disney tentpoles before such as Star Wars, Marvel and more, this is the first-ever collaboration with The Simpsons. It's a strong indication that the partnership between Epic and Disney is only going to grow bigger over time.
Fortnie players will find themselves “stuck in Springfield,” prompting major map overhauls and new gameplay mechanics, rumored to include a giant donut feature. Veterans and newcomers alike can check off a Simpsons Quest to-do list to level up the game's brand new Springfield-themed Battle Pass.
Over the course of four weeks, Springfield will gradually fall into corruption. Players will have to locate iconic characters like Homer and Marge, battle corrupted bosses such as Evil Homer and Witch Marge, and earn exclusive loot.
The crossover also includes four weekly narrative shorts, starting with “Apocalypse D’Oh," with each subsequent short introducing fresh twists and changes to the in-game world.
Details from an official Disney press release reveal, "Fortnite crashes into The Simpsons, and players get stuck in Springfield and need to find a way home. Meanwhile, a shard of the Zero Point ends up in Homer Simpson’s hands…leading to an insane chain of events. Gear up for new gameplay, map updates, and four Fortnite-themed The Simpsons shorts, streaming on Disney+. Prepare yourself, things are about to get crazy."
"Expect multiple map changes and updates, new weapons, and maybe even gameplay around a giant donut… Over the course of four weeks, chaos builds, and Springfield will become more and more corrupted by Homer’s careless use of the Zero Point shard. Scour the island to find Homer, Marge, Bart, and Flanders; fight Evil Homer, Witch Marge, and Krusty to pick up loot; and complete The Simpsons Quests to level up in the Springfield Battle Pass! This is a Season you don’t want to miss — with new updates each week."
"The Season runs November 1 through November 29, and each week will bring exciting new updates and content to return to."
"In addition to new gameplay updates, players can expect weekly narrative shorts, released in-game, on social, and streaming on Disney+. Each short will also signal a change within the Fortnite gaming experience. The first short drops today, and beginning November 10, a new short rolls out every Monday in November.. Tune in each week to see the story unfold!
