Epic Games has released a new developer diary discussing next week’s update 3.5, with a specific focus on
Fortnite’s PvE mode
Save the World.
Fresh off 3.4’s quality of life improvements, next week’s 3.5 update will introduce a new survival map taking place in a new arid biome (with new art), an additional questline with new heroes and weapons. The new heroes will introduce some gameplay changes which Epic teases that
“as a Constructor, you may have a reason to allow the Husks closer than your used to.”
In addition to all of the new stuff, update 3.5 will also contain quality of life improvements. This includes a rework to how Outlanders function, specifically with how they interact with fragments.
Epic also provided an update on weapon perk rerolls.
“We previously set an unrealistic timeline of when we might be finished with it and we realize that it’s still not in your hands. We are actively working on it. It is a thing. There are multiple developers on it. We have a plan and a design that we’re really happy with.” Unfortunately, it seems we’ll still have to wait for specifics, but Epic promises to share more information once they get closer to knowing what build it will land in.
Fortnite’s reporting system is also being addressed. Epic is looking to give players a better way to report griefers, and the good news is they have UI mockups, but it’s going to take some time. In the meantime, update 3.5 will offer some relief. Impulse grenades have been buffed, but more importantly will only affect the person who throws them, not other players.
Fortnite Update 3.5 is set to arrive next week.
