Fortnite Chapter 2 - Season 2 has officially gone live. The latest update brings numerous changes to the popular battle royale game, including new map locations, weapons and items, and gameplay wrinkles.

Keeping up with the Chapter 2 - Season 2 secret agent theme, the biggest feature is the addition of spy agencies. The Ghost and Shadow factions have set up shop on the island and they've got numerous hideouts for you to discover. There are also enemy bases that you can infiltrate to snag unique and powerful weapons. The Rig, The Agency, and Dirty Docks are three of these new locations. Each are guarded by henchmen that you can choose to take out with brute force or sneak past using secret passes, decoy grenades, or disguises (like a Metal Gear-style cardboard box). Each of these locations also has an enemy boss that will drop a keycard that allows you to access the secret vault filled with sweet loot.

Damage Traps, the P90, and the Bolt Action Sniper Rifle have been sent to the vault, but numerous other weapons and items have been unvaulted, including the Minigun, C4, Grapplers, all the suppressed weapons, and even Launch Pad. Consumables, like shield potions, can also be thrown now, creating more strategic gameplay options for squad play.

Overall, this seems like a relatively tame update in terms of new features and mechanics, but Fortnite is a constantly change game. Patches released throughout the season will continue to add new content and tweak various aspects of the game.

Beyond the actual gameplay, Chapter 2 - Season 2 sees the arrival of a new Battle Pass. It can be purchased for its usual price of 950 V-Bucks ($10) and includes an assortment of cosmetics with an espionage theme. In a somewhat unique twist, completing weekly challenges from each of your battle pass characters will unlock a special final mission at which point you must choose to align with either Ghost or Shadow. Doing so will grant you access to a new faction-exclusive style. Choose carefully, though, because your choice will be permanent.
