Epic Games has
announced that
Fortnite 4.2 Content Update will arrive tomorrow and although we don't yet have the full official patch notes, the developer has teased at least one new item it will bring: Jetpacks. In addition to a tweet confirming Jetpacks with tomorrow's update, the in-game news feed reveals that the Jetpack will actually be a limited time item. While we've had limited time game modes, the Jetpack marks the first time a
Fortnite item has been available for only a limited time.
Exactly why the Jetpack will be available for only a limited time remains to be seen, although datamining the game's files have
revealed that a week 5 Battle Pass challenge will require you to "Use a Jetpack" in return for 5 Battle Stars. If that's the case we can expect the Jetpack to be available for at least this week and the next.
Revealed at the end of February, the Jetpack was
delayed ahead of patch 3.1.0 in early March and instead replaced with the
Hunting Rifle. At the time, systems designer Eric Williamson explained of the Jetpack delay,
"In our internal playtest we identified some issues with it and we wanted to make sure those were all sorted out before we release it."
Full patch notes regarding tomorrow's content update - including the arrival of any new items - will become available when the update goes live at 8:00 a.m. ET.
