It seems
Fortnite fans are going to have to wait a little bit longer until they can take to the skies in the game with
the new Jetpack item. The Jetpack was originally planned to release this week, but Epic Games has now revealed that the item has been delayed and is now "coming soon."
In an email sent to PC Gamer, Epic explained:
"This week’s new item is being changed from the Jetpack to the Hunting Rifle. We found a last minute design issue with the Jetpack that’s going to delay its launch and we’re working on correcting it... The Jetpack will lift off at a later time. Meanwhile, you’ll be able to enjoy lots of no-scopes with the new Hunting Rifle item and a new, lucky point of interest on the map."
The original announcement of the Jetpack has seemingly left many perplexed by its purpose. Is it purely cosmetic or a full-fledged transportation item? When it popped up in-game, the only description read:
"Take the fight to all new heights."
In the meantime,
patch 3.1.0, which has been released, includes the new Hunting Rifle. Uncommon and Rare in rarity, the Hunting Rifle is scopeless, holds just one round in the chamber, and is most effective at medium to long range. The new Lucky Landing location (image above) has also been added to the Southern edge of the island in Battle Royale.
As for the Save the World mode, we're getting the Dragonfire Auto-Shotgun and Brave Beginnings defender quest.
