The wait is finally over for Avatar fans, IGN is exclusively revealing that Paramount Game Studios and Saber Interactive have teamed up to bring the very first AAA game set in the universe of Avatar: The Last Airbender. This very ambitious project is another milestone for the history of the franchise, promising gamers an unprecedented experience to be thrown right into the colorful world of Avatar.

The action-RPG is still in development, but it will take place in the Avatar Legends universe-a label that covers a world first realized by Nickelodeon's Avatar: The Last Airbender. A collaboration between Paramount Game Studios, Saber Interactive, and Avatar Studios-the latter founded by original creators Michael DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko-looks to further flesh out the Avatar universe in such a way that old and new fans alike will be delighted.

While details remain scarce, the game promises to be an epic adventure that will throw players into the role of a completely new, never-before-seen Avatar, set thousands of years in the past. This will enable the player to master all four elements, go into dynamic combat with companions, and make tough choices-and face the challenges of being the keeper of balance in the world. Done will include a mix of the new and familiar, making sure that franchise fans will feel right at home.

The partnership by Paramount Game Studios, Saber Interactive, and Avatar Studios is a new way of developing an IP-based game. This co-funding structure, born of a development period ten-plus years in coming, speaks to commitment regarding the building out of the best, immersive experiences that are truly representative of the spirit leading into the original franchise. As said by Doug Rosen, SVP, Games and Emerging Media at Paramount, "We've been aware that fans of Avatar: The Last Airbender have been clamoring for more stories that pull them into the universe of the show, and through gaming, we're able to expand the world-building and allow fans to experience the new content in a completely immersive way."

The Saber Interactive team is all set to get down to business with its devoted and passionate creatives. Josh Austin, Head of IP Development & Licensing, Saber Interactive, solidified the importance of such a collaboration: "Our team members are some of the most devoted, passionate creatives out there, and it's an honor to join forces with Avatar Studios and Paramount Games to further expand the Avatar Legends universe in video games."

While we still have to wait a bit more for any information about the release date, gameplay mechanics, and story details, one thing is certain– this AAA title is bound to send waves throughout the Avatar franchise and raise the bar regarding deep storytelling within the gaming world. Keep your eyes set on the next updates, and get ready to immerse yourself into an unforgettable adventure in Avatar!
