Despite turning three this week, Blizzard continues to find ways to improve Overwatch. The latest comes in the form of a new feature that will allow you to go back and watch replays from your past games.
The new Replay feature, which is now available on the Overwatch Public Test Realm (PTR), will allow you to watch replays from previous matches from any perspective. You'll be able to watch the match unfold in first-person or third-person views, with a floating camera, or even directly from another player's view. You'll also be able to slow down or speed up the replay so you can focus on exactly what you want.
Overwatch has previously allowed you to go back and watch individual highlights, but this is the first time you'll be able to watch an entire match. For a game as competitive as Overwatch, it was only a matter of time until it received a replay feature. This new tool should prove useful to players hoping to improve their skill, in the same way game tape helps with professional athletes.
If you're looking to step up your game, you can go back and watch for specific strategies or team coordination. If you encounter a match with a really good player, it would be beneficial to go back and watch what they did, studying their moves.
And for you creative players out there, the replay system should allow free-reign for capturing footage. This could possibly allow you to put together more cinematic highlight reels.
You can access Replays from your Player Profile under the Replays tab. Replays for your 10 most recent matches in all game modes will be available for viewing for the duration of a patch. Like Highlights, Replays will be reset when a new patch arrives.
