Rumor has it that the team at Machine Games has been working on a proper third entry in the rebooted
Wolfenstein series for quite some, but it doesn't stop the Swedish developer from making other games like the upcoming spin-off
Wolfenstein: Youngblood. While the studio seems to be focused solely on the
Wolfenstein brand, Machine Games wouldn't say no to making an all-new
Quake title.
During a recent
Reddit AMA session, Director Jeff Gustafsson revealed that he would actually love to supervise Machine Games' take on
Quake – and even a more traditional
Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory!
"
Of course, we are huge fans of Enemy Territory and such an opportunity would be super-exciting," he said. "
Quake is the reason I got into gaming. Discovering WorldCraft and Level Design, making maps for Quake, was one of the best experiences of my life – I even still do it today. Developing a Quake game (a re-imagination of Quake 1) is and will always be on my bucket list, but working with Wolfenstein and getting to work closely with my heroes over at id Software is pretty awesome too."
"
I can’t answer for the team, but I personally could only second what Jerk wrote earlier, Quake would be a killer IP to be part of," Art Director Axel Torvenius added. Considering that many fans of the classic brand didn’t fall in love with id Software's
Quake: Champions, it would definitely be pretty interesting to see Machine Games' original vision of the long-running first-person shooter franchise.
As a reminder, Machine Games' latest project,
Wolfenstein: Youngblood, is hitting stores this summer.
