As previously promised, EA shared new details about future content coming to
Star Wars: Battlefront II at Gamescom today, and fans have a lot to look forward to - including content inspired by
Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.
August kicks things off by making the Separatist Dreadnought and Republic Venator playable in Heroes vs. Villains. EA has made some changes to the interior of both Capital Ships.
Once you're breached the enemy ship, you have five minutes to destroy it before the action returns to the ground. In order to destroy the ship, you must first capture one of two available Command Posts located on the ship. If you succeed in that, your team will gain an additional five minutes and be able to fire on the enemy target. Any damage caused to the enemy target will be persistent, meaning even if you fail in destroying the target fully, you can pick up right where you left off in subsequent Assault attempts.
Additionally, the Capital Ship phases will now be based on a timer, with the attacking team given a fiveminute window to destroy the generators.
Also coming in August is a new Contextual Spawning feature, allowing yout o spawn on dynamic tactical assets on the battlefront.
In September, things pick up even more with a new large scale map, two new game modes, and a Community Challenge. The Felucia map has been built from the ground up with Capital Supremacy in mind and details regarding its mechanics
can be found here.
Also coming next month is four player online co-op, one of two new modes for
Battlefront II. In this "large- scale PvE adventure," you can play as either the Galactic Republic or the Separatist Alliance and partake in the massive battles on all five Clone Wars planets. EA promises a different experience on each planet - either as an attacker or defender - depending on what faction you select.
The second game mode coming in September is Instant Action, another large-scale game mode
"that can be enjoyed within a single-player environment."
It will take the Supremacy element of Capital Supremacy (the planetary phase) and allow you to play through it on your own. At release, you will have access to all the maps that are currently available within Capital Supremacy: Naboo, Kamino, Kashyyyk, Geonosis, and Felucia.
Some smalelr content will come in October and November, but December is when the next big update drops, adding new content inspired by Lucasfilm's upcoming cinematic blockbuster
The Rise of Skywalker. Unfortunately, EA did not share any details regarding this content, likely as a way to prevent any sort of spoilers for the film. Perhaps we can expect some new character appearances and maybe even
the newly teased Sith Trooper?
