Being released between Battlefield 1 and Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare did nothing to help Titanfall 2, and it now sounds like the franchise's future is in doubt. During an interview with Glixel, Respawn co-founder Vince Zampella confirmed that the studio is currently unsure about a third instalment.
"We don't know yet," he admitted before stating that while Titanfall 2 had been a "huge success" critically and that they're "really happy with all the reviews and the positive sentiment," it's currently "too early to tell" from a sales standpoint whether the game has done well enough to justify another.
"We'd definitely like to tell more of the story and the universe. I think it's pretty safe to assume that we'll explore more of it. EA might have announced more." Interestingly, Zampella confessed that it "definitely feels a little odd" for the publisher to have released Titanfall 2 so close to a couple of other big titles, though he actually seems more annoyed at the makers of Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare than them! "Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare is from my old studio, that I buil. And they're repackaging my old game that I built, on a brand that I built. So it's kind of like you're throwing it all against me."
