Bungie Will Be Taking Action Against DESTINY 2 Dashboarders & Cheaters From September 4th Onwards

To coincide with the upcoming release of Destiny 2's Forsaken DLC, Bungie have announced that from September 4th onwards they will be enacting restrictions and bans against those who attempt to unfairly game the system.

Abnormal dashboarding (disconnecting from a multiplayer game before its conclusion), especially against the same opponent/s multiple times, is just an example of what might place you under Bungie's ban-hammer. Bungie explains below how and why this anti-cheater enforcement has came to be:

We have received reports from players who have been using bungie.net or other third-party websites to attempt to identify wrongdoers. We want to clarify that our internal tools have much more detail, which players do not have access to. For example, a player who returns to orbit or switches their character will show as did not finish on a third-party website, while our internal tools have much more detail on the reason they left the match. This helps to ensure that we do not hand out restrictions when opponents are disconnecting due to temporary networking or ISP issues or opponents leaving of their own accord.

Using this data—and working with the PvP team directly—we’ve recently updated our detection and analysis tools and re-checked the previous four months of matches from the Competitive playlist.

Bungie has also updated the game's “Account Restrictions and Banning Policies.” Depending on the commited crime, players may receive restrictions within the Crucible and/or be outright banned from taking part at all. For the most severe of infractions, players may have access to all of the game's activities, including PvE, taken away.

They brought the update to a close, Bungie clarified that this is only the tip of the iceberg so to speak, in terms of anti-cheating enforcement: "As we begin to apply this moderation, we will be crosschecking matches to ensure the proper levels of punishment are applied. We’ll continue to apply and revise our detections throughout Season 4 and beyond."

What do you think about Bungie tackling Destiny 2's unlawful players-base? Are you glad that, one year after the game's release, they're finally cracking down on its multiplayer issues?
