Fortnite's update v5.40 promises big changes when it arrives, but unfortunately, it has been delayed. Epic took to Twitter to announce it will now arrive on Thursday, September 6, due to "the discovery of a critical controller issue."
Detailed last week, the update will implement a new change to storm in the later stages of a match that'll allow it to cause damage to player-built structures. Additionally, update 5.40 will add new mobility items, update balance parameters, and send the revolver to the vault.
The delay of update 5.40 also means we'll have to wait until Thursday for the High Stakes event to begin. This special event introduces
the Getaway LTM,
exclusive challenges and rewards, and
the Wild Card outfit. In the meantime, the popular Soaring 50's LTM has been re-enabled.
Fortnite's Season 5, Week 9 Battle Pass Challenges will also be delayed by a day and will now go live on Friday, September 7.
