Fortnite has taken the world by storm and just about everyone is playing the battle royale version of the game. Epic Games recently launched a mobile version of the game which has reportedly become a distraction in class. Since
Fortnite's mobile release, there have been numerous stories of how schools have attempted to deter students from download and playing the game while in school. It seems developer Epic Games is aware of the growing concern and has actually listened to some feedback.
Community manager K.L. Smith shared an imaged of the new
Fortnite Mobile loading screen, which now includes the message: "Mr. Hillman says stop playing in class."
Interestingly, the Mr. Hillman mentioned in the loading screen is a reference to a teacher who apparently posted the following message, which has since been deleted, on the
Fortnite subreddit (via
Polygon):
First, I love your game. My friends from college and I play pretty much every night. One problem, since mobile came out my students won’t stop playing in class. Idk if it's possible, but I told them I'd write you and they didn't believe me. Could you add this to the loading screen for a couple days to mess with them? 'Mr. Hillman says stop playing in class.'
Fortnite Mobile is a free-to-play game that's currently an invite-only event. It topped the iOS charts in 47 countries in less than 24 hours after launch.
