Season 5 of
Fortnite Battle Royale is slated to begin this Thursday and in anticipation of a brand new season, Epic has released the first teaser image for it. Unfortunately, it does little to clarify the theme of the upcoming season, but fans are certainly intrigued by it.
There's some disagreement over what the teaser image is actually of, but a common belief is that it's a Kitsune mask. Kitsune, of course, is Japanese for Fox which could be in reference to the giant wooden fox near Wailing Woods.
Leading up to
Fortnite Season 5, there have been some seriously strange things happening in the game. It all seemed to start with the launching of the rocket which
tore a giant hole in the sky. Since then, mysterious rifts have been opening up across the map and making certain landmarks disappear -
such as the iconic Tomato head above Tomato Town.
However, over the weekend, in a strange shift of events, the rifts have actually been making new objects appear in the map. First,
there was a giant wooden anchor that appeared between Snobby Shores and Greasy Grove - perhaps referencing the Ancient Greece era. Then,
a wooden horse carriage mysteriously appeared north-east from the prison (near Moisty Mire).
What does it all mean? Your guess is as good as ours, but thankfully, we don't have to wait much longer to find out.
Fortnite Season 5 kicks off on July 12 at 4:00 a.m. ET. With that, you have until July 11 to finish up any remaining Season 4 Battle Pass challenges in order to unlock the Omega skin.
