Following the cinematic rocket launch last week, iconic landmarks across the map of Fortnite have slowly fallen victim to spontaneously appearing rifts. From the Lonely Lodge, to the Motel. The most recent victim was of course the famous tomato-head which sat atop Tomato Town.

Though many believed that the rift would bring an end to the town as a whole, fortunately it only took down the giant tomato which had become a staple of the game. Rest in peace Mr Tomato Head, you will be dearly missed. You can check out the aftermath in the Twitter post below:

Even after the obliteration of our beloved edible mascit, the rifts are wasting no time as they have already marked their next target. This time Retail Row is under fire as a new portal has appeared surrounding the "NOMS" sign. This landmark in particular isn't quite as iconic or well-known as the giant tomato, though it is on par with previous vanishings.

These new rifts are certainly intriguing and have sparked many a theory. The community's hive-mind seems to believe that the cracks in reality could mean an impending alien invansion, a resurgence of the Big Bang, or even some kind of time-travel. We'll just have to wait and see what Epic has in store.

What do you think the rifts are? Which landmark do you think they'll target next?
