You Can Now Earn A FORTNITE: BATTLE ROYALE Scholarship To Go To College
There's one small, U.S. college in Ohio that's looking to capitalize on the crazy popularity of Epic Games' high profile battle royale game, Fortnite.
Gamefragger previously reported on the increasing number of U.S. college and universities offering eSports scholarships but it seems one school is looking to be the ultimate advocate.
Ashland University, a small nonprofit university in Ohio will give a $4,000 scholarship for top Fortnite players who want to join the school's eSports team. Scholarship awardees will compete on the school's competitive 4-man Squads team. Ashland already fields competitive teams for Overwatch and League of Legends.
Tuition and Room & Board at Ashland is estimated to cost $13,821 depending on where students stay and what meal plan they select.
At $4k, the University is unlikely to attract the Ninja's of the Twitch world, however, they'll likely garner interest from some young, upcoming players. At the very least, they've raised their profile as it's doubtful that the average college-bound teen outside of Ohio has any clue to that Ashland University even exists.
