Bluehole, Inc. and its subsidiary, PUBG Corporation, released a new website today for their popular competitive battle royale shooter, PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds (PUBG). This website, affectionately named, "Fix PUBG," is a slogan that has made the rounds on social media and has become almost a joke in the gaming world. The developers themselves acknowledge this, and take it as a challenge to perfect their game, and also doing it with an open line of communication with the community that loves their game.
This can be looked at as refreshingly uncommon, at least in the gaming entertainment industry, in terms of the type of open conversation a development team has with its game's population, especially one the size of PUBG's. The opening statement on the website introduces players to the ideas laid out on the road map of updates they have planned for foreseeable future, on the most important issues:
"This is a phrase that we’ve been hearing a lot lately. Bugs, performance problems,
and quality-of-life issues have been limiting PUBG's true potential, and you want it fixed.
So we think it's time to do something about it.
'FIX PUBG' is a months-long campaign to deliver the changes and improvements that
you've been asking for. We've created a roadmap with specific details about our plans, and
we intend to update it as we go, checking things off as we deliver on our promises."
Here's the official tweet announcing this new website:
The website has three seperate categories that are divided into 'Road Map,' 'Fix Log,' and 'FAQ.'
In the 'Road Map' section, it features graphs laying out approximate dates for specific issues to be dealt with, as well as permanent lines showcasing those issues that will be on going (server stability, network coding, fixing bugs, etc.).
The 'Fix Log' portion goes into greater detail about what they've already done so far this year to fix specific issues, as well as going into detail what will be done about it in the future.
Lastly, the 'FAQ' portion, or 'Frequently Asked Questions,' they go over three big questions, which you can see those, and the developers' answers to those questions at the blog
here.
