Bill Belichick has won seven Super Bowls in his Hall of Fame career, including five with the New England Patriots, but despite all his accolades, he has yet to appear in a single iteration of the Madden NFL series.
With his G.O.A.T. quarterback Tom Brady and superstar tight end Rob Gronkowski appearing on the covers of the past two Madden entries, many began to wonder whether those moves would convince the hoodie to lend his likeness to the popular video game franchise, but alas, it never came to pass and now, it seems that he will unsurprisingly skip out on Madden NFL 19 as well.
Former Madden producer Carlos Guerrero confirmed the news to GameSpot and added that the people at Madden are still engaged in talks with Belichick and hope to add him sometime in the not-so-distant future. "I would hope so; we're still having those conversations."
The real reason behind Belichick's non-inclusion is that he's the only head coach in the NFL that is not a member of the NFL Coaches Association and is, therefore, not obligated to lend his name and likeness to the video game developer. In lieu of Belichick, the game has historically just created a generic coach for the Patriots, named "NE Coach." The coach is customizable, so diehard fans can always rename him to "Bill Belichick" if they so choose.
