Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse sure was surreal, but it doesn't hold a candle to Hideo Kojima's catalogue of artistic works. The renowned video-game director recently took to social media (@HIDEO_KOJIMA_EN) to share his thoughts on Sony's Academy Award-winning animated film.

As you'd expect, Kojima had nothing but praise for the film. He specifically made mention of the immense amount of art and animated styles at play throughout. But Kojima's review gets really interesting at the very end where he states that there are similarities between Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse and Death Stranding - as well as, his most recent game, Metal Gear Solid: The Phantom Pain.

"Spider- Man: Into the Spider-Verse was great masterpiece! Live action, full CGI, Japanimation, puppet anime, tokusatsu, manga, American comic, graffiti, it carries all the DNA and MEME SCENE, SENSE to make the next gen entertainment art. Good story too! The theme is like TPP+DS," Kojima's tweet read.

Speculation regarding the highly-anticipated Death Stranding has run rampant since it was first revealed to the world back in 2016. There are countless theories on what the game will offer, but none more prevalent than those relating to the multiverse. Now, Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse is quite the multiversal film, but Kojima specifically references the film's themes being comparable to Death Stranding and Metal Gear Solid: The Phantom Pain.

Now, Metal Gear Solid's wiki states that The Phantom Pain's most prevalent themes are those of "Revenge and Race". How this relates to Spider-Verse? Well, your guess is as good as mine. The latter's most evident theme would arguably be that of loss. We obviously can't say at the moment how comparable that is to Death Stranding, but we no doubt will once the game finally arrives. Until then, this tease will simply serve as even more fuel for speculation.
