Bandai Namco and Tarsier Studios' Little Nightmares was quite a pleasant surprise for fans of the horror genre, as it is a ridiculously eerie 2D platformer that sees players trying to escape a prison called The Maw as a child named Six. The creatures in the game are repulsive and quite scary, and the atmosphere is quite nightmare-inducing.
The original Little Nightmares was released for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC in 2017, and later ported to the Nintendo Switch in 2018. A mobile game was also made for iOS and Android devices in the form of Very Little Nightmares — which was also critically praised.
With the success that the series has had, it was only a matter of time until the developers decided to make another one — which is exactly what they did, as Little Nightmares II was officially revealed to be in development in August of last year.
Since Little Nightmares II was announced, however, little to nothing had been revealed about the upcoming horror title. That changed yesterday, as Bandai Namco and Tarsier Studios shared a terrifying new gameplay trailer that also revealed that the game will be releasing on Thursday the 11th of February in 2021.
Top top things off, Tarsier Studios and Bandai Namco also confirmed that Little Nightmares II is currently in development for the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X, although the release date for the next-gen version of the game has yet to be officially revealed.
Piggybacking off of yesterday's new gameplay trailer, Bandai Namco and Tarsier Studios have decided to release one more video for Little Nightmares II; not a trailer, but actual gameplay of the game, and it looks even more terrifying than the last title in the series; definitely the stuff nightmares are made of.
Take a look:
In a cruel world, a lonely boy finds a mission and a friend. Ride the line between excitement and terror as you run, jump, sneak, and fight your way through the Pale City and its Residents with Six by your side. Stop the Transmission before it can stop you, and you might survive.
Little Nightmares II is expected to release for the PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, and PC on Thursday the 11th of February; PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X versions to release at a later date.
