Last month, Call of Duty: Warzone officially debuted on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. The free-to-play battle royale game quickly amassed an impressive fifty-million players. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Season 3 kicked off earlier this month — more on that here — and introduced a plethora of new content including a new Battle Pass, Operator skins, weapons, and more.
However, that's not all Infinity Ward have in mind for post-launch content. Taylor Kurosaki, Narrative Director at Infinity Ward, recently participated in an interview with VentureBeat wherein he revealed that they're planning some interesting narrative content for Call of Duty: Warzone.
"We’ve talked a lot in the past about whether games like Fortnite have a narrative. I would say yes, absolutely. I’d say Warzone does as well. But for me, it’s in a genre and a tone that I greatly prefer," Kurosaki began before the site brought up an example a narrative event that featured in Fortnite which made waves online — the infamous black hole.
Kurosaki proceeded to explain that such events are precisely what they're planning for Call of Duty: Warzone. However, they will be more realistic in nature (compared to the tone of Fortnite).
"That’s exactly the kind of thing that we’re working on, that we have planned. Again, it’s all going to fit into this macro that we’ve established in Modern Warfare, and that we’ve continued into Warzone. If you know who the players are in Modern Warfare, it’ll all make sense, and it’ll all feel appropriate to the universe.
In other Call of Duty: Warzone news; Infinity Ward recently reintroduced Trios BR and Plunder Duos. Double XP and Double Weapon XP are now live in-game and will be until April 20th — find out more here.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and Call of Duty: Warzone are both out now on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
