Square Enix has outlined its San Diego Comic-Con plans, offering more details in terms of what fans can expect to see of
Marvel's Avengers at
the Marvel Games panel.
Marvel's Avengers was one of the games confirmed to be showcased during the Hall H panel, but now Square Enix has confirmed that the presentation will include the first public gameplay reveal for the game. Unfortunately, the gameplay will be locked behind the doors of Hall H and it looks like Square Enix has no plans to publish it online for those not in attendance.
Here are the details from Square Enix:
Marvel’s Avengers Panel (Thursday, July 18, 1:30 pm in Hall H): Join Shaun Escayg, Creative Director at Crystal Dynamics, and the performance cast of Marvel’s Avengers for a special presentation that will include new information and the first public gameplay reveal for Hall H attendees only.
It's unclear if this will be the same demo that was shown behind closed doors at E3 last month, or if this is a new one. Either way, it's disappointing that millions of fans at home won't be given the chance to see any of it — especially since the panel itself will be livestreamed.
Marvel's Avengers wasn't met with the warmest embrace when it was finally revealed at E3 and Comic-Con presented the perfect opportunity to sway fans with a look at gameplay. Instead, we'll have to hear second-hand from those in attendance of the panel.
Marvel’s Avengers begins at A-Day, where Captain America, Iron Man, the Hulk, Black Widow, and Thor are unveiling a hi-tech Avengers Headquarters in San Francisco — including the reveal of their own helicarrier powered by an experimental energy source. The celebration turns deadly when a catastrophic accident results in massive devastation. Blamed for the tragedy, the Avengers disband. Five years later, with all Super Heroes outlawed and the world in peril, the only hope is to reassemble Earth’s Mightiest Heroes.
Marvel's Avengers launches May 15, 2020 for PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
