The studio best known for creating licensed adventure games has decided to part ways with 90 employees. The decision is caused by the urge to deliver better experience and to reduce the number of produced games. Just in last year Telltale finished
Minecraft: Story Mode, published
The Walking Dead: Michonne, Batman: The Telltale Series, The Walking Dead: A New Frontier, Guardians of the Galaxy: The Telltale Series, Minecraft: Story Mode – Season Two and Batman: The Enemy Within.
Telltale acknowledged the fact that they produced way too many games and they aren't able to focus on delivering quality products with up to nine simultaneously developed series, via Kotaku:
"The decision is designed to make the company, a leader in player-driven narrative games, more competitive as a developer and publisher of groundbreaking story-driven gaming experiences with an emphasis on high quality in the years ahead. These changes are not expected to impact the release of any of the company’s previously announced projects".
Which means that the second season of
Minecraft: Story Mode, The Walking Dead, The Wolf Among Us, Game of Thrones and
Batman: Enemy Within won't miss their planned release schedule. We hope that the laid-off employees will land on their feet.
