Minecraft Live was held digitally today and featured plenty of exciting news for Minecraft Dungeons, the action-adventure dungeon crawler released earlier this year.
For starters, cross-play is coming next month and will players across Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Windows PC to link up and play together regardless of platform. As a game that encourages multiplayer co-op exploration, this is wonderful news.
Additionally, new DLC is planned for December. The Howling Peaks DLC received a very brief trailer that teased a new location high atop perilous peaks filled with dangerous mobs, new gear, and exciting exploration opportunities. The Howling Peaks is the third expansion for Minecraft Dungeons, following Creeping Winter in September and Jungle Awakens in July.
That's not all though. Further down the line, players can expect more DLC. Next year, we can expect to travel to underwater locations and magma-filled caves. It's just a taste of what's planned for the action-adventure game next year but it's still very intriguing -- especially being able to play with others across different platforms.
Minecraft Dungeons received mixed reviews upon its release with critics divided over its simplistic gameplay. It was also criticized for its short story and lack of in-depth content. But clearly, there are big plans in store for Minecraft Dungeons and lots of intriguing locations we can expect to visit.
