A lot of people may remember something about the "Super Duper Graphics Pack" for
Minecraft, which was announced by Mojang during the Xbox presentation at the E3 in 2017; probably for all the wrong reasons, too — as most thought such expansion was pointless.
New information released by Mojang has revealed that this graphics pack has been canceled due to it proving to be "
too technically demanding to implement," while also adding that they're "
looking into other ways for you to experience Minecraft with a new look."
"
Some of you might remember us announcing the Super Duper Graphics Pack during E3 2017. Super Duper was an ambitious initiative that brought a new look to Minecraft but, unfortunately, the pack proved too technically demanding to implement as planned," read the official statement shared by Mojang.
Kotaku reached out to Mojang for further clarification on the matter, and a spokesperson told them that they have been trying to figure out a way to make the Super Duper Graphics Pack work but it just wasn't possible; adding that they'll soon have more information to share with players.
"We’ve been trying to solve Super Duper for a long time. We wanted to wait until we determined the path forward before officially addressing the project. We’re looking into different options with our Render Dragon graphics engine, and will have more to share soon."
