Two weeks ago, as October began, the director of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, Masahiro Sakurai, revealed the next character who would be joining the massive roster of playable characters. Speaking of massive, the announcement was so huge that it caused Twitter to temporarily crash. Not just anything can cause that to happen.
So, what exactly caused it? Well, confirmation that Steve from Minecraft would be joining the Super Smash Bros. Ultimate roster, of course! What's more, it isn't only Steve who will be taking on the likes of Mario, Sonic, and Kirby but Alex, a Zombie, and an Enderman (all as Echo Fighters for Steve, of course).
One of the co-founders of Mojang Studios later revealed that this update has been in the works for up to five years! And now it is finally here. Today marks the day that Minecraft's very own Steve, Alex, Zombie, and Enderman join the Super Smash Bros. Ultimate roster for good.
The characters come as a part of Fighters Pass 2, simply update your game to version 9.0.0 if you're already subscribed to that, or they can be purchased in a standalone pack for $5.99 / £5.39. You can find out more about the newest Super Smash Bros. Ultimate fighters by checking out the video below which features Sakurai himself.
