Echtra Games, the new studio behind the third installment,
Torchlight Frontiers, are no strangers to the
Torchlight series as they are founded by Max Schaefer, who founded the original development team,
Runic Games, behind the series. Many of the developers behind both teams worked heavily on both
Diablo I & II, so their experience in the Action-RPG genre is ever prevalent. Still supported by parent company
Perfect World,
Torchlight Frontiers hasn't revealed too much about their new game but have shown off their first gameplay trailer today at
Gamescom 2018 in Cologne, Germany. There is a small playable demo for those in attendance to get their hands on, and it seems the only downside is that there isn't more to play yet.
They will also be attending
PAX West, held in Washington, next weekend, with more hands on experiences for fans of the series.
Here's a first look at gameplay in this trailer released today:
From the initial look at the gameplay footage, they seem to have still kept up the fast-pace play which differentiates itself from other AAA Action-RPGs, as well as kept up the involvement of pets, another beloved major aspect that makes this game stand out amongst its competitors.
Not much is known about
Torchlight Frontiers as of now, other than that it will release sometime in
2019 and will be at least be available for
Xbox One,
Playstation 4, and
Windows PC (based off logos at the bottom of their
Official Site).
