Game Atelier's spiritual successor of the popular
Wonder Boy series, more in particular
Wonder Boy III: The Dragon's Trap and the
Wonder Boy: The Dragon's Trap HD remake,
Monster Boy and the Cursed Kingdom was released last week for the PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, and Windows.
Much like the Wonder Boy: The Dragon's Trap HD remake, Monster Boy and the Cursed Kingdom features some very impressive 2D hand-drawn animations that look, quite frankly, amazing; not to mention the game has been getting a lot of praise for being a great platformer in its own right.
Recently, FDG Entertainment has revealed that within after only one week since the release of
Monster Boy and the Cursed Kingdom, the game has managed to sell an impressive 50 thousand copies. Not only that, but the publisher has also revealed, in the very same Twitter thread, that the game has been selling the most on the Switch; making it the console of choice for players of this wonderful spiritual successor to Wonder Boy III: The Dragon's Trap.
The tweet by FDG Entertainment, however, does not reveal if the number of copies only pertains to physical sales, digital, or both; keeping in mind that only the PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch versions of
Monster Boy and the Cursed Kingdom were given a physical release. It will sure be interesting to see more sales numbers for the game in the future, and it's great that the game has been selling this well.
