If you've got a deep roster of characters in your portfolio, you might as well try your hand at the mascot-based platforming fighter popularize by Nintendo's Super Smash Bros. As we saw with Sony's PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale a few years back, it doesn't always work out, but now Nickelodeon is testing its luck. Revealed by IGN today, Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl brings together characters from the network's wide variety of cartoons and shows.
The upcoming brawler, which bears a stirking resemblance to Super Smash Bros. in both style and gameplay, is set to arrive on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch this Fall 2021. It's being developed by Ludosity and Fair Play Labs with GameMill Entertainment publishing.
The trailer revealed dozens of characters from the various Nickelodeon shows that span multiple decades, including some beloved Nicktoon classics. Players will be able to battle in single-player and multiplayer modes, local and online, with characters from SpongeBob SquarePants, The Loud House, Rugrats, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Ren & Stimpy, and more.
While the full roster hasn't been revealed yet, the confirmed list of playable characters so far includes Michelangelo (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles), Leonardo (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles), Nigel Thornberry (The Wild Thornberrys), Powdered Toast Man (Ren & Stimpy), SpongeBob SquarePants (SpongeBob SquarePants), Sandy Cheeks (SpongeBob SquarePants), Patrick Star (SpongeBob SquarePants), Oblina (Aaahh!!! Real Monsters), Lucy Loud (The Loud House), Lincoln Loud (The Loud House), Helga (Hey Arnold!), Reptar (Rugrats), Zim (Invader Zim), and Danny Phantom (Danny Phantom). Players will be able to unlock new moves for every fighter and earn bonus content for an in-game gallery.
Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl will also feature 20 levels based on these shows, including Jellyfish Fields from SpongeBob and the Technodrome from TMNT.
Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl arrives this Fall 2021 for PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch.
