THQ Nordic has confirmed
the rumors caused by GameStop's accidental listing.
Red Faction Guerrilla will return in the ridiculously named
Re-Mars-tered edition on PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4 in the second-quarter of 2018. More information will be announced in the lead up to launch, but the publisher has released some interesting features and tweaks the game will receive.
The gameplay will still resolve around blowing stuff up in the most creative way, thanks to the still impressive (the original game launched in 2009) destruction engine designed by Volition.
Red Faction Guerrilla: Re-Mars-tered is an open-world game in which you decide who, when, where and how to battle to liberate Mars. The press release also features an information about the multiplayer mode, putting your "skills to the test in a variety of highly destructive multiplayer combat modes." But it's still a remaster, so the game will obviously feature "fully reworked graphics", improved "shadow rendering", "improved lighting", "shader & postprocessing rework", and "native 4k support for the finest up to date mars destruction experience ever." Check out the new artwork and first screenshots down below!
Set 50 years after the climactic events of the original Red Faction, Red Faction: Guerrilla allows players to take the role of an insurgent fighter with the newly re-established Red Faction movement as they battle for liberation from the oppressive Earth Defense Force. Red Faction: Guerrilla still defines the limits of destruction-based game-play with a huge open-world, fast-paced guerrilla-style combat, and true physics-based destruction.
Red Faction Guerrilla Re-Mars-tered will be available in Q2 2018 for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
