Pretty much anyone with a slight interest in video games knows about Yacht Club games' critically praised
Shovel Knight; a 2D platformer inspired by classic game series like
Mega Man,
Ducktales,
The Legend of Zelda, and many more — while still adding its own spin that makes it unique.
In August of 2017, Yacht Club Games revealed that they were working on a brand-new expansion for the game called
King of Cards which — much like
Plague of Shadows and
Specter of Torment — would have players playing as a new character in an all-new story.
A year after the announcement of the
King of Cards expansion, the developer also announced that they would be adding yet another expansion called
Shovel Knight: Showdown, although this time it would be a party fighting game that borrows some elements from other popular titles like Nintendo's
Super Smash Bros. series.
As it turns out, both
Shovel Knight: King of Cards and
Shovel Knight: Showdown have finally become available today in Shovel Knight, and now that the whole Shovel Knight saga is complete, Yacht Club Games has release the definitive trailer for the complete edition of
Shovel Knight: Treasure Trove.
It is worth mentioning that only
King of Cards will be available on every platform, since
Showdown will not become available on the Nintendo 3DS nor the PS Vita. Players who already own a copy of
Shovel Knight will get both expansions, completely free of charge, via an update today.
