Tetris 99 is one of those games that no one could've anticipated working as well as it did. Released for the Nintendo Switch in February of this year,
Tetris 99 mixes the concept of a
Battle Royale game with
Tetris, having players engage in matches against 98 other players as the try to be the last one standing.
As
Tetris, as a franchise, is celebrating its 35th anniversary next month,
Tetris 99 will be getting a special event. Players who participate in the event and manage to earn at least 100 points, will be able to unlock a Game Boy-inspired theme for
Tetris 99; the Nintendo portable where it all started.
Additionally,
Tetris 99 will also be getting an offline mode that will see players battling it out against 98 CPU bots, as well as adding a new Marathon mode that resembles the original Tetris. This
Big Block DLC will not be free, however, and players will have to purchase it from the eShop for $9.99; this coupled with the fact that Tetris 99 is only available for Nintendo Switch Online subscribers.
It is still great news for people who are already subscribed to the service, can't get enough of
Tetris 99, and want a new challenge against the CPU.
99 players…but only one will remain! TETRIS® 99 is the iconic puzzle game as you’ve never seen it before. Can you pick the right strategy to best 98 other players online* – all at the same time?!
Tetris 99 is currently available for the Nintendo Switch.
