Desert Child is a hoverbike racing game with role-playing elements, developed by independent developer Oscar Britain and published by Akupara Games. The game was announced back in July, and would be releasing for the PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, and PC.
The premise of the game has players winning or throwing races, delivering pizzas, hunting for boutnies, or pretty much anything needed in order to get enough money to buy their ticket to Mars and leave the planet, which has become inhabitable.
With a pixel-art style based on mainstream anime like Akira, Cowboy Bebop, Redline, and a soundtrack inspired by music from the 1990s,
Desert Child is the ultimate throwback for players who still want to wear them nostalgia glasses every now and then.
As
Desert Child becomes available today, Oscar brittain has decided to pay homage to Cowboy Bebop, mirroring the series' iconic intro mixed with some gameplay footage from the game; if this doesn't scream 90s goodness, I don't know what does.
Take a look:
In Desert Child, you are a young and talented hoverbike racer who needs to figure out how you can scrape enough cash together through racing and odd jobs to punch your one way ticket to the Red Planet to enter the biggest race in the universe, the Grand Prix.
Desert Child is available for the PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, and PC today.
