CD Projekt Red has been silent since the unexpected reveal of Cyberpunk 2077 in 2012 and the release of a cinematic trailer a year later and then went underground, leaving the sci-fi, Blade Runner, universe created by Mike Pondsmith, and RPG fans in the dark for a long time. Cyberpunk 2077 officially retuned during E3 2018, and what a return it was, showing off the actual gameplay footage for the first time.
According to Polish website Bankier, CD Projekt CEO Adam Kiciński revealed during a recent conference call that it was a pre-alpha build and the aforementioned gameplay demo was, essentially, the only part of the game that could be shown at the expo. “This is the most polished part of the game we have now, prepared in some sense to show it to people outside the company,” explained Kiciński.
Kiciński also confirmed that Cyberpunk 2077 is being made by more than 350 developers and the team is only growing. CD Project expects that the marketing budget for the shooter will be even bigger than the one for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt (which had a $35 million budget for marketing).
