CYBERPUNK 2077: Gamestop Is Now Taking Returns Of The Game Describing It As 'Defective'

Following the bad press that has been showering Cyberpunk 2077, another hit has come with Gamestop now accepting returns of the game and labeling it as defective. Hit the jump for more information!

Since its release, CD Projekt Red's Cyberpunk 2077 has been thrown to the wolves with reports coming back saying that the game is incredibly buggy on last-gen consoles, sold as a complete game when it was anything but, and even lying to investors about saying how complete the game actually is. Without the next-gen version of the game to help balance what the game should be versus what it is, it would appear that the sun has set on the title before it even reached the highest point in the sky.

Gameplay aside, the title has also been removed from the Playstation store and has issued so many refunds that it ended up becoming a financial loss for the company rather than a gain. Much like how the release of Mass Effect Andromeda went with the player base; all points lead to the potential conclusion that this could be VERY bad for developers at CDPR; and worse yet, the hits keep coming.

Following a potential lawsuit, there are now reports that the game can now be returned to Gamestop, and those copies that are getting sent back are being labeled as defective. With such massive backtracking taking place, will there even be a next-gen release of the title?

It's hard to say what the future holds for a game that is SET in the future, but hopefully, things will improve greatly before it is too late. Have you had any issues with the game? We would love to hear about your experiences in the comments below!

The game follows the story of V — a hired gun on the rise in Night City, the most violent and dangerous metropolis of the corporate-ruled future. A robust character creator will allow players to choose V's gender, visual appearance, as well as historical background — all of which may influence the shape of the game.
