Sabotage Studio, the same developer behind The Messenger, has announced a Kickstarter Campaign for Sea of Stars; a brand-new role-playing game that draws its inspiration from classic RPG titles like Final Fanasy VI and Chrono Trigger, while also adding something new that seeks to modernise combat, story telling, and exploration: .
Sea of Stars is revealed to take place in the same universe of The Messenger, and is also supposed to be some sort of a prequel — although Sabotage Studio makes very clear that this game can be fully enjoyed without having played The Messenger.
The developer has also revealed that the combat system will be turn-based, and that it will reward players for being strategic; making every encounter unique. No random encounters either, as enemies will be visible and players will be able to decide whether they want to fight them or not.
Perhaps what stands out the most about Sea of Stars is its beautiful pixel art style and dynamic lighting, which makes the game look like a game from the 16-bit era, while also looking like a proper modern game; with those effects making the in-game world and the fights breathtakingly beautiful.
Sabotage Studios mentions that the Kickstarter's goal is to develop Sea of Stars for every platform, although right now they have only mentioned that the game will release for consoles and PC in 2022.
The campaign's goal is $90,760, and as of this writing the pledge is currently sitting at $75,840; with the campaign ending in 29 days. It is very safe to say that Sea of Stars will be fully funded by the time the campaign is over.
With the announcement, Sabotage Studio also released a few in-game screenshots, as well as an action-packed trailer that show off the beautiful graphics of Sea of Stars, so be sure to check it out down below and let us know what you think in the comments section down below.

Sea of Stars is a turn-based RPG inspired by the classics. A prequel story set in The Messenger’s universe, it tells the story of two Children of the Solstice who will combine the powers of the sun and moon to perform Eclipse Magic, the only force capable of fending off the monstrous creations of the evil alchemist known as The Fleshmancer.
Sea of Stars is expected to become available for consoles and PC in 2022.
