Brass Lion Entertainment’s upcoming co-op action RPG, Wu-Tang: Rise of the Deceiver, made waves with its reveal during Summer Game Fest 2025 and continues to build hype as its trailer airs across the Wu-Tang Forever: The Final Chamber farewell tour. Now, in a candid new episode of BLE Breakdown, co-founders Bryna Dabby Smith and Rashad Redic offer fans a deeper look at how the project came together and why it’s shaping up to be one of the most culturally unique video games ever made.

Hosted by Podcast Hall of Famer Danny Peña, the interview explores the development team’s inspiration, artistic direction, and how Wu-Tang’s iconic legacy is being transformed into a supernatural, anime-infused RPG experience. Give the full thing a watch down below, followed by the spark notes for a quick read.

Bringing Wu-Tang Lore to Life in a Video Game

The developers emphasized that Wu-Tang: Rise of the Deceiver is more than just a licensed game it’s a carefully crafted title backed by a team of 53 developers and partners working across the U.S. and Canada. Brass Lion describes this team as a “strategically selected coalition” with the goal of creating culturally authentic experiences.

"The core DNA of who we are is very unique in the industry,” said Rashad Redic, Brass Lion’s Chief Creative Officer. "That cultural spine influences the type of conversations we have, the type of decisions that are made about the game, and it all gets wrapped up and presented in something that feels really unique and authentic.

Highlights from the BLE Breakdown Interview

The BLE Breakdown touched on several key topics:

Wu-Tang’s cultural impact and its transcendence of East vs. West coast hip hop.

Supernatural storytelling inspired by Wu-Tang lore and the Angel of Dust franchise.
