After the unexpected implosion of the
Mass Effect series in
Andromeda, BioWare is currently busy with the development on
Anthem, the studio's answer to the success of
Destiny and
Tom Clancy's The Division. The upcoming online multiplayer action RPG will give you a chance to control Iron Man-like exosuits (called Javelins) and embark on a journey to discover why gods have abandoned the universe.
While Sony has finally allowed PS4 users join
Fortnite Xbox One, PC, and Nintendo Switch players,
Anthem won't feature the desired functionality at launch, executive producer Mark Darrah announced yesterday on Twitter. The "at launch" part suggests that the cross-play will be added to
Anthem at some point in the future, making it a bit easier to sell, as both
Destiny and
The Division lack that option.
Next February is packed with big-budget titles such as A
ce Combat 7: Skies Unknown, Crackdown 3, Jump Force, Overkill's The Walking Dead (console version),
God Eater 3, Dead or Alive 6, and
DiRT Rally 2.0. The competition is strong, as
Anthem will compete directly with 4A Games'
Metro Exodus that is also set to release on the 22th of February for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. Let them fight.
In a world left unfinished by the gods, a shadowy faction threatens all of humankind. The only thing that stands between these villains and the ancient technology they covet are the Freelancers. Join up to three other players and assemble high-tech, hand-crafted, uniquely powerful exosuits. Explore vast ruins, battle deadly enemies, and claim otherworldly artifacts. With every mission, you and your Javelin exosuits grow in power. Fight the dangers of an ever-changing world. Rise united to defeat evil. Triumph as one.
Anthem will be released for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC (via Origin) on February 22, 2019.
