Bioware recently demoed their upcoming and highly anticipated, new IP
Anthem at PAX West. The panel revealed a ton of new information on the game and its story, but one of its highlights was a funny quip by producer Mark Gamble which pokes fun at what has been dubbed "Puddlegate 2018".
Insomniac Games' upcoming
Marvel's Spider-Man game was recently met with criticism due to a supposed graphics downgrade, which was made apparent by a comparison of the game's current state and one of its earlier trailers. As you can see in the above image, the puddles in each screenshot are entirely different! Preposterous!
James Stevenson, Insomniac's Community Mananger, has clarified that
"The puddles being moved had nothing to do with performance. Pretty sure it was a design/art usability reason thing. Definitely wasn't performance, as we have spots with tons of puddles in the game with no performance issue."
But nevertheless Gamble's respectful jab is sure to bring a smile to your face. During Anthem's demo, a dreaded puddle made an appearance. The producer laughed to himself and said
"You'll see the puddle, right there. So before we move on, there's a 98% chance that that puddle will be changed, moved, reduced ..."
