Dark Souls Remastered launched four days ago on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC as the Nintendo Switch requires more time and will be available later this year. The console version of the game is getting great reviews and currently sits at an average rating of 86/100 on Metacritic. Critics praise the graphical and performance improvements, the return of the online mode with dedicated servers, and some HUD changes, but the PC version is a darker story as the multiplayer play is currently ruined.
The PC online mode is pretty much a hot mess, as FromSoftware and Bandai Namco don't seem to care much about the comfort of playing on PC. Cheaters are already infesting the game and getting legitimate players banned through invasions, a a form of PvE and PvP in the
Dark Souls series. While it work perfectly fine on both consoles, getting hit by one of them means that your whole gear breaks.
According to Steam users, cheaters can curse and one-shot players, break their gear and tweak the stats in a mysterious way which causes legitimate players to get soft banned while the cheaters still goes unpunished. When the same situation happened during
Dark Souls III's launch, the game's mods asked players to "don't take candy from strangers," so it will be interesting what kind of advice they will give the frustrated PC community this time. In the meaning, check out the new trailer for the remaster:
