As promised yesterday, the first
Darksiders III expansion,
The Crucible, has launched today, as the DLC is out now for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One, priced at $6.99. As a reminder, those who purchased the game's Deluxe, Collector’s and Apocalypse Edition can download it completely for free right now.
To gain access to the Crucible, you must capture the first of the Seven Deadly Sins. After that, Vulgrim will show you the way, and the more Sins you defeat, the further into the Crucible you may pass.
The rules of this Horde-like mode are relatively simple: "
Once you have entered the Crucible, enemies will come at you in 25 waves. If you survive a set of five, you are given a choice: take your reward and leave or proceed and risk losing everything. Endure all one hundred waves in one go, and you will face the final challenge." Developer Gunfire Games has not revealed yet what that challenge is.
Darksiders III's second expansion,
Keepers of the Void, will be a story mission set in the Serpent Holes, ancient paths that worm their way beneath the husk of this dead world and beyond, but it's unclear how long we will have to wait to play. In the meantime, be sure to take a look at
The Crucible below:
Return to an apocalyptic Earth in Darksiders III, a hack-n-slash Action Adventure where players assume the role of FURY in her quest to hunt down and dispose of the Seven Deadly Sins. The most unpredictable and enigmatic of the Four Horsemen, FURY must succeed where many have failed – to bring balance to the forces that now ravage Earth. Darksiders III is the long-anticipated, third chapter in the critically-acclaimed Darksiders franchise.
Darksiders III is available for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC NOW!
