While THQ Nordic has already revealed that Darksiders III won't be the last entry in the slasher series, hardly anyone would expect to witness the announcement of the fourth installment anytime soon – as Gunfire Games' latest game launched for PS4, XO, and PC in November to rather favorable reviews.
According to the Entertainment Software Association, the main organizer of the annual Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3), Darksiders IV will be announced during this year's show. Considering that THQ is planning to reveal two never-before-seen titles at E3 2019, the fact that both Darksiders IV and Red Faction: Evolution leaked online before the official beginning of the event truly is something else.
Darksiders IV will take "the franchise in a fresh direction" and will be discussed June 13th at 10:30 AM in the so-called E3 Colosseum. Given that Darksiders III hinted strongly at the gun-wielding Strife being the next game's main star, the aforementioned "fresh direction" may mean that the team at the yet-to-be-announced game's developer is actually taking some lessons from Capcom's Devil May Cry series.
As a reminder, THQ Nordic announced in February that Darksiders III "has performed within management’s range of expectations and has recouped all investments made in development and marketing during the quarter" – as the Darksiders franchise "remains one of the Group’s key IP’s."
